Nevermore, the High King

This is my first attempt at making armour from craft foam, and I wanted to use my test project on one of my favorite originals. Nevermore got one, very nice upgrade. ^_^

I will probably be continuing to update with info over a period of time, so feel free to check back frequently for updates and images of the armour pre-completed.

He is wearing the same doublet that he had in his original Summer wardrobe, which I thought was perfect for the Beltaine upgraded version. He has lost the tunic, circlet and the tights and has upgraded to a nice and frilly gold-silk shirt, black pants and a crown. Not to mention the velvet and brocade aegis.

Honestly, I am in love with this, and I am really happy with my work this time around. The crown was probably one of my favorite parts to design and piece together.

About:

Nevermore is Gentry fae, who LOVES women and can create some of the lewdest comments on the planet. Even though he rubs off as an idiot who knows nothing but OHH SHINY, Nevermore is really a deity in disguise, sent to seek out his reincarnated long lost sister, who is destined to be Queen of the Fae, who was killed in cold-blood thousands of years ago. Will he ever find her?

The Dhagho-deiwos, Armour of Shining Divinity

* The Aegis de Morrighan: Perfect for fencing, a one shoulder cape that offers the wearer its protection, given solely by the Morrighan, once the wife of the Dagda. It offers invisibility and the ability to shift into other animals. Colors of Gold and White represent royalty of the faerie.


*The Mother's Guidance: On them, they feature the Goddess Danu (whom is also considered the Dagda’s mother) inside a shield, presenting the Celtic Trinity knot. For Nevermore, she represents protection, guidance, light and Future. She watches him in battle, granting him her protection.

To her sides, she is surrounded by two ravens, which represent Nevermore, himself. They are his animal spirit, and guide him to make the right decisions for himself and his people. Nevermore presents himself to his comrades as the Raven. The ravens are presented upside down, telling us that the wearer is chaotic and not always down to earth.

The color is Gold, regal and unwavering. Powerful and wealthy. The metal is worn and the surface marred from centuries of battle. The double layers protect the wearer, but also direct that power at enemies with powerful arms and strength.


*Elatha's Mercy: The High Crown of the Fae, worn only of noble and worthy blood. Said to be created by the most powerful of magic, combined of the Goddess herself and the High King of the Fomorians. Should the wrong soul hold this crown, the balance of the Universe could plummet into chaos. The stone dangling from this crown is claimed to be a piece of Elatha's heart, in which he gave to someone he once trusted.

*The Memory of Brigit: Greaves that grant great speed, intelligence and finery to the wearer. Said to have been made in the name of Brigit, the daughter of the Dagda.


*Láa ogus oidhche: "A day and a night", honoring the control the Dagda has over the Universe. This protective skirt guards the Dagda's most treasured "parts".


*Uaithne: These spaulders dictate the magic used by the harp, controlling the seasons and putting them in their correct order. The wearer of these is granted the power of command in battle.


* Sciatháin Aingeal: "The Wings of an Angel", is the breast plate offering eternal life to its wearer. Only a King of Worth may be granted the honor of donning these magical plates. The metal was forged by the Gods, different embellishments to lend their strength and guidance to a Warrior King.

SPECIAL SYMBOLS FEATURED ON THE ARMOUR

Sciatháin Aingeal:

*Ken rune: symbol of the flame and representing the warrior, and speaks of sex, action and heroism. Next to the Celtic symbol of purity.

*Duir Rune: symbol of the oak, and stands for power and stability. Next to the Celtic symbol of purity.

*The Ailm: Celtic symbol for "purity", as represented by the Ogham. This is located in the center, behind the cross.

*The Triple Spiral: representing the Mother, the Maiden and the Crone. Located the the main plate near the shoulder pieces.

*Arwen: representing Male and Female energy, with the center being "balance".
