Wow. 2016 sure has been full of ups, downs, and loads of surprises and projects!!! Just finished up Hades and Young Hercules and now already working on two more smaller ones! This year has been such a blast tbh.
I have so much to be grateful and thankful for, and the many experiences I get to have as a guest or judge at conventions has really taught me how to be humble and so very thankful. Every year there is the opportunity to meet hundreds of new, talented and amazing people. So many friends and great memories come out of each and every experience. Eight years ago I would have thought that anyone who told me that there would be so many good people in my life was batsy. lol But it's true! Everyday is a new adventure. Everyday is a new chance at creating something new and unique. Every day is a brand new moment to make the most out of.
And it's all thanks to every single one of my friends, family, and peers. Without you guys, I would not be nearly as motivated and driven to wake up each morning, make myself breakfast and finish up my day. There is so much love and warmth in my heart for all of the special people in my life. I thank you all so very much!!!
With each new project I learn something new and improve on something old. There is this undying drive to create and make someone smile or excited about something. In the course of the past year, I have learned to embroider, smock, paint with a more detailed eye, make helmets, do scale mail, make realistic horns that look like they are made from bone, make celtic knots from tiny bits of worbla, and so many other little things. I had the chance to work with some incredible and talented people! Photographers, craftsmen, performers and actors, musicians....I got to travel to Canada and see a really good friend I haven't seen since I lived in Japan! It's amazing what someone can do when you put your mind to it.
Guys, don't give up. Never give up on your dreams or what you aspire for in life. It may be hard. There are always going to be hurdles and setbacks. Just keep moving forward! We all mess up; make mistakes. We aren't perfect! We are human! And we are driven by our motivation to keep going!!! Just do it! Strive for a better you and never be content. You will find with every step you take something improves.
Sometimes life will get you down...or try to stop you...or something happens that makes motivation very difficult for us. That's normal. That's okay. Take breaks. Give yourself pep talks. Have friends pick you up because you are never alone no matter how much the darkness may try to make it seem so. Hey. It's okay. You are going to be okay.
